Conserves general practitioners time by locating and coordinating feedback and information on patients; locating appropriate doctors for discussions with the General Practitioner. Enhances general practitioner and staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members. Helps general practitioners staffs by investigating difficulties/delays in out-patient departments; resolving issues; facilitating access to care. Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing general practitioners procedures and patient processes; recommending changes. Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards. Contributes to general practitioner/hospital relations program effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
